Tree Profile: Leyland Cypress Natural Christmas Tree

With its excellent durability and lack of pollen that would affect allergy sufferers, the Leyland Cypress is one of the most sought after trees in the Southeastern United States.

The tree’s rapid growth of up to three feet per year, and potential peak height of over 66 feet, has caused problems when used as a hedge- casting heavy shade on neighboring property.

Leyland Cypress trees offer soft needles, a light scent, and excellent durability. Tradeoffs are branches of only moderate strength and limited growing region of the mid-latitude United States, thereby limiting availability.
